Let's Make a Dash for It

The British Are Coming! The British Are Coming!

We're so excited about the upcoming royal visit that we painted this lovely little dresser in homage to our friends across the pond. Apparently, the queen will not be accepting an audience while she's here, but another royal is...

Her Highness, Queen of Chalk Paint, Annie Sloan!

Instead of reading or talking about the products, come learn from the creator herself at the 2012 Annie Sloan North American Tour! You don't have to travel far; the event will take place on Monday, March 26th at the Franklin Marriott in Cool Springs.

You'll experience a full and exciting day, including a 2-hour demonstration and history given by Annie, a 4-hour hands-on workshop, and a book signing and social hour.

When you're done learning from Annie, you'll have enough confidence to create your own masterpiece, like this dresser we painted in Old White and Paloma for our YouTube video.

Behind the Scenes

Did you know Annie Sloan has her own YouTube Channel? Well, she does! We've already shown you the first video about her shop in Oxford, "home to the best paint in the world."



The channel also features Chalk Paint stockists in England, the United States, and other countries; that includes our own shop right here in Brentwood! So how did we go about making our YouTube video? We started, of course, with a few cans of paint. This time we chose Barcelona Orange, Arles, Antoinette, and Provence.



Then we brought in a couple of willing volunteers, Tom and Jan, to take a Chalk Paint class for the camera. Looks like they had a little fun!



Behind the scenes, our videographer and creative mastermind Paul worked hard to capture the right shots so he could later edit them into one finished product.



Here's a better view of Paul. He was all smiles behind the camera and put everyone at ease...



Even when we had to paint on cue! Store owner and Chalk Paint expert, Tawnya, led the way, as usual. She began to paint the edges of this beautiful dresser, while Tom recorded and we all looked on.



Next it was Melissa's turn. Melissa helps Tawnya run the Annie Sloan workshops, so she's no amateur when it comes to Chalk Paint techniques!



Finally, C'est Moi store manager Vanessa had to get her hand (or at least a brush) in the paint. Vanessa usually keeps the store running at full steam, but she got to take a break from behind the counter to join in the fun. :)



Nicole, our always cheerful sales associate extraordinaire, was filmed for the video but didn't make it into the behind the scene photographs. We'll try to be back soon with a picture so you can meet her before you see the video!

Since there wasn't another photographer, no one got a shot of Kristin, our blogger (aka me!), painting the dresser as well. But you'll see that soon enough.

Paul is working his editing magic to have the video ready to go; soon you'll be able to "visit" C'est Moi on the Annie Sloan YouTube when you can't make it to the shop. :)

Spring is in the Air

It might be chilly outside, but C'est Moi is ready for Spring!



"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to bloom."



Things are definitely blooming here at the shop. :)



Including these silver wire nest charms from local artist Tarah Coleman. They're the perfect accessory for Spring and a unique twist on mothers' birthstone necklaces.



Our favorite Annie Sloan color lately has been Paloma. Annie created the color by mixing purple, yellow, and white, producing a beautiful taupe-like lavender. On this bed we paired it with Paris Grey and a mixture of Graphite and Emile. Topped with a hint of dark wax, it creates the ultimate Shabby Chic look!



Here's another view of the bed, topped with plenty of comfy linens and pillows. Seamlessly combining aesthetics and comfort, they're the perfect companion to any bedroom set.

This Little Shop Went to the Market

Don't you agree with St. Francis?! We were able to mingle with quite a few artists this past weekend at Vintage Marketplace. The main attraction in our corner was, of course, Antoinette, the newest color of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. It's a soft pink with a hint of brown, which Annie describes as the "color of washed out roses and old plaster." Perfect to add a touch of femininity without being too girly.



This was our motto at Vintage Marketplace, especially since we spent our time "playing" with our favorite paint.



Those who hadn't heard of Chalk Paint were surprised by the range of colors Annie offers. For the rest of us, it's just hard to choose which one we want to use!



Since many people who came by the space didn't know much about the paint, we spent most of our time demonstrating and explaining its advantages. Paige and the other ladies donned aprons, grabbed paint brushes, and got down to business. There are definitely some new Chalk Paint fans out there after this weekend!



Besides working in our own space, we loved visiting with other vendors. Our friend Lisa Maughmer of Urban Farmhouse was our neighbor "right across the way," as we say here in Nashville.



It was a whirlwind weekend, but a fun one all the same. After it was over, we got to come back to the shop and admire the fabulous Lenny & Eva jewelry we have in stock! Pick your sentiment and add it to a large cuff...



Or a small one. Choices, choices. :)

A Good Year.

Who would have ever thought that 2012 would hold so many exciting things for C'est Moi! We are receiving new shipments daily as well as holding a variety of workshops,hitting the road to be a vendor at Vintage Marketplace, and the most exciting news... Annie Sloan herself will be coming to Nashville!



We are so excited to be on the map this year with Vintage Marketplace. What kind of vintage enthusiast show would be complete without Annie Sloan Chalk Paint? We will be holding daily demos. Don't get too carried away with excitement, you'll forget to sign up for a chance to win a ticket to the Annie Sloan North American Tour workshop. As you all may know, I went to Oxford, England last summer to train with Annie. I was so excited to see that she had posted this video so that I could share her fabulous shop with all of you.
